Questions + Answers...
Is coaching right for me?
Are you inherently motivated to achieve your goals, and to effect positive change? Coaches can help you define goals, identify and learn strategies, and incorporate them into daily life, but we can’t do it for you. Motivation needs to be intrinsically strong to see success. It's a journey we take together, but you're in the lead.
How is coaching different from therapy?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking process to maximize personal and professional potential, focusing on future goals, performance, and creating action plans for well-functioning individuals, whereas therapy addresses mental health, past trauma, and emotional distress, working to heal wounds and manage disorders with licensed professionals. In essence, therapy heals the past and manages dysfunction, while coaching builds on present strengths for future success.
While I have been trained by a renowned local therapist on how to adapt my coaching practice to meet the needs of folks with ADHD, I am not a healthcare provider and do not diagnose or treat any mental or physical health conditions.
What is Executive Functioning (EF)?
Executive functioning refers to the cognitive skills — like organization, time management, and impulse control — that govern our daily behavior. Managed by the prefrontal cortex, these processes are among the last to mature, particularly for those with ADHD.
How does ADHD/EF coaching differ from typical professional coaching?
While the core approach is the same, ADHD/EF coaching moves beyond high-level goal setting to address the specific "how" of daily execution through a neuro-affirming lens. It integrates psychoeducation to help clients understand their unique brain wiring and focuses on building practical systems for challenges like time blindness, task initiation, and emotional regulation.
Ultimately, while both approaches ask what the client wants to achieve, ADHD/EF coaching also asks what needs to be true for the client's brain to follow through.
Do I have to be ADHD to work with you?
Nope. While my own experience with ADHD heavily informs my neurodiversity-affirming approach, I welcome anyone who wants to hone their Executive Functioning skills as part of their journey from "good" to "great".
What sort of training do you have?
I received my training and certification through Coach Training Edu, an International Coaching Federation accredited institution.
Additionally, I've received intensive training on ADHD and Executive Function from the experts at Bainbridge Collaborative Counseling.
Do you take insurance?
No, but if your insurance covers coaching you can request a superbill at the end of the month that you can submit to your insurance company.
Do you work with college students?

Can't I just use one of those coaching or habit-training apps?
Some folks do very well with a coaching app on their phone or watch, as it aligns well with their natural self-motivation. An app can indeed support both the messaging of the work and the ongoing execution of an established coaching plan, and some have begun experimenting with basic goal-setting frameworks.
But without human-to-human interaction, much is lost in the coaching journey. Even the most "AI-enabled" app can't interpret non-verbal cues such as body language or facial expressions, or even understand the nuances of the emotions behind the words. Nor is it able to use intuition and life experience to "get beyond the ask" of the client and help them identify the real underlying need — and adapt along the way to ensure the coaching journey remains highly relevant and valuable to the client.
